Owen William Cawthorne

A practical, systems-minded approach to robotics

My interest in robotics and engineering began in childhood and grew through independent research, documentation, experimentation, and prototyping. I enjoy problems where mechanics, electronics, software, and intelligent control have to work as one system.

I usually start by defining the purpose and constraints, then build enough of the system to expose the next useful problem. That process has taken me from field-testing paddling electronics and hand-building a brushless motor to directing experiments with simulated robot locomotion. I’m still developing my advanced programming, mathematics, control theory, and fabrication skills, and I’m interested in continuing into mechatronics, robotics, or AI-related engineering.
